While some people may say the more they see of the world, the more they despair, but I wonder at this. The first thought is that people who say this are not seeing much of the world that exists.
Instead, I imagine they are looking at the world through someone or something else’s lens. A recipe for worldly despair is as simple of turning on any news station. You will see and hear stories of hate, sadness, and cruelty the world over. But this is not experiencing the world.
The fatal blow to end these terrible feelings and to rid yourself of narrow-mindless is to travel. Real travel. See it with your own eyes. Experience all walks of life in all corners of the world. Look up from your phone or mobile device and see the beautiful bright moon shining on you while you’re half the world away from home.

Our daily lives and information connections make the world seem like a small place. We review the goings-on in places like Marrakech, but nothing can ever replace grandeur of seeing the tall minaret of 12th Century Koutoubia Mosque, a twin of the La Giralda in Seville, Spain or the majesty or seeing the Altas Mountains rising south of the rose-tinted city. And this, just one tiny place in a world full of places.

Travel reminds us how small our corner of the world is and how big the rest of it is. We see more good than we do badly in humanity when we travel and we’re given a fresh perspective on life and what’s truly important when we travel. We break down the barriers created by bigotry and prejudice and open our hearts to all life. If you have it in your power to travel, please do so. If you don’t, make it a goal to travel. It will change your life.
